Contraception Services

We provide a comprehensive family planning service and can advise you on all methods of contraception. All such consultations will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Your maternity care will be shared by the doctors and community midwives. Antenatal referrals and postnatal attendances are arranged at the surgery. Community midwives based at local hospitals are linked to this practice and follow the current local government guidelines.

The midwives will provide you with all information about blood test screening, scans and how your care will be managed.

Cervical Smears

All women between the ages of 25 and 65 are encouraged to have a cervical smear. The practice nurse performs these unless otherwise requested.

Health Promotion

Please feel free to use our electronic health monitor found in the reception area. Our dedicated reception team will be happy to assist you with the check and arrange an appointment with our practice nurse if required.

Everyone aged 40 to 74 with no chronic disease is entitled to a free health check. This will involve a simple blood test and a review with our practice nurse. Please ask reception for details.

Patients Aged 75 & Over

If you are over 75, you are invited to have a yearly health check. The practice nurse or health care assistant at the surgery will do this if you are able to attend. If you are housebound, a home visit can be arranged.

Smoking Cessation

Appointments can be arranged at the reception.

Vaccination and Immunisation

The practice nurse carries out these by appointment. Click here for the NHS immunisations schedule.

The practice nurse also gives immunisations and advice for those travelling abroad. Flu & Pneumococcal vaccinations are routinely given each autumn for those over 65 years of age and any one suffering from a chronic disease.

The Practice Health Monitor

We have a Practice Health Monitor located in the practice waiting area which enables patients to perform their own checks such as blood pressure, weight and height. You can use this to check your blood pressure whenever you wish. You may also be invited to use the health monitor to complete certain medical questionnaires.
